Description

Development and maintenance of .NET-based backend microservices supporting enterprise business operations and internal service management. The solution is designed to streamline operational workflows, improve process efficiency, and integrate seamlessly within a distributed enterprise ecosystem.

Scale

The consultant worked for a global appliance manufacturer within the division responsible for the infrastructure supporting D2C services, including customer care across voice and digital channels, e-commerce, payments, and service operations. The scope includes the design, development, and maintenance of a set of .NET-based microservices acting as an interface layer between front-end applications and backend service orchestration systems.

These services expose standardized APIs and handle the orchestration between multiple service scheduling systems, enabling coordination of service operations across different external partners. The architecture is designed to support large-scale, distributed operations in a multi-tenant environment, ensuring scalability, redundancy, and consistent performance across high volumes of requests.

Complexity

The consultant operates within an agile release train of approximately 120 people, working as part of a cross-functional team where a Product Owner defines business requirements and SLAs. In collaboration with front-end teams consuming the services, the consultant contributes to the definition of APIs and, based on agreed SLAs, supports the design of the implementation and deployment strategy.

A key aspect of the engagement is also the design and implementation of monitoring solutions for the integration layer toward external service scheduling systems, ensuring reliability, observability, and alignment with operational requirements.

Level of engagement

The Beatbridge team is involved across the full software delivery lifecycle, from initial architectural definition to continuous operational optimization. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, ensuring that business requirements are translated into secure, scalable, and maintainable service solutions.

During the implementation phase, the consultant contributes to the development of core .NET microservices and integration workflows, helping define best practices for code structure, CI/CD processes, and security standards. Close collaboration with DevOps and front-end teams ensures that deployment strategies, API contracts, and integration patterns are consistent, well-versioned, and optimized for performance and reliability, while testing strategies are aligned with service-level expectations.

In the deployment and operational phases, the consultant supports multi-environment releases within a multi-tenant architecture, contributing to rollout strategies aimed at minimizing downtime and ensuring service stability. The role also includes the implementation of observability and monitoring solutions, enabling proactive issue detection, performance tracking, and SLA compliance within an Agile Release Train environment.

Technologies

Multiple microservices are created to manage a set of internal APIs (global appointment booking APIs), the integrations toward the partners APIs, retry mechanism, fault tolerance and system monitoring. The building blocks for the services were implemented in .NET, AWS, MongoDB and Datadog.
